• What is MSP?

  • It was first introduced in the 1965-66 season for wheat and later extended to coarse cereals.
  • The aim is to ensure fair returns for farmers and protect consumer interests.
  • The CCEA announces the MSP each season based on recommendations from the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP).
  • Factors considered in setting the MSP include demand and supply, production costs, market price trends, and the impact on consumers.

• India is making rapid strides in solar and wind energy, aiming for 500 gigawatts of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030, having already achieved 217 gigawatts. Last year, 24.5 gigawatts of solar and 3.4 gigawatts of wind capacity were added, with solar contributing 47% to total renewable capacity.
• Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu are leading the way in solar and wind installations.
